he Adolescent Anthropologist

 The bits of information I gather from the adolescents and families are oftentimes more in the construct of “artifacts” than a clearly understandable and nicely packaged information bit.  These “artifacts” need some breaking down and interpreting and finally some decisive action in the form of a treatment objective.  I think it is this shrouded layer of information and interaction with adolescents that I find so appealing in working with teenagers....

“4-20″ Teenagers’ Secret Holiday and What Parents Should Know

As I write this entry on April 11th, I know that in nine days some of the families who bring their teenagers to my practice will undergo increased stress.  I make it a standard practice these days to begin talking about April 20th, or as it is more affectionately known in the teenage culture, “4-20″, the week prior to April 20th.  Bluntly speaking, 4-20 is recognized for many teenagers as an international holiday celebrating the smoking of marijuana.
